I got stuck with my RA work now. Dr. Jean asked me to find quotes of some advertising people. Quotes that “focus on creative (strategy or writing). Something memorable about the business, perhaps inspirational.” I have no idea where to start. I googled some quote collection websites and found nothing specific about the topic. I recall there was a function on Google that can locate quotations but can’t find it now. Maybe my memory goes wrong or I am just daydreaming.
Seems I need more sleep to keep my head clear. But not tomorrow. I have to meet Dr. Havice at 9 am tomorrow and I promise I would be there on time. “Where there is a will, there is a wake.”
Updated: I got exempted from the task but still wonder if there is any way I can get it done. I happened to find an excellent article concerning digging the Web by Robert J. Lackie, who is an Associate Professor-Librarian at Rider University. You may check “Those Dark Hiding Places: The Invisible Web Revealed” here.

Is there anyone kind enough to tell me what font this is? I need it badly but can’t figure out what the fontname is. The only clue is it might be a member of Minion.

Or if you know how to make the similar effect with other fonts, please leave me a comment. Thanks!
Updated: Thank eapass for his clue. I think the font is “Minion Bold Oldstyle Figures”. However I can’t afford $29.99 to buy it but another free alternative is the Georgia distributed with Windows XP. The numbers look slightly different but I can’t complaint because it is totally free. Special thanks to ColorJD who pointed out that to me.

Definition: The day after Thanksgiving in the United States, is frequently referred to as Black Friday.
General Use: One of the major U.S. holiday shopping days. The day many U.S. consumers begin Christmas shopping. The day is heavily promoted by retailers.
Origin: The origin of Black Friday comes from the shift to profitability during the holiday season. Black Friday was when retailers went from being unprofitable, or “in the red,” to being profitable, or “in the black”, at a time when accounting records were kept by hand and red indicated loss and black profit.

Everybody should be thankful today especially those surviving turkeys. I’m wondering how many people would blog on Thanksgiving. It’s time to gather with family and share the moment. I just had a terrific Thanksgiving dinner with my friends around. I’m thankful that you guys are here and wish you a happy Thanksgiving.

Nothing is worse than writing such a cliche post on Thanksgiving. I need some new stuff, seriously.

Communication is a young subject. That partly explains why no ranking in Communication field is available in U.S. News rankings of graduate programs. National Communication Associate has conducted a Communication Doctoral Program Reputational studies, which is the opening of a series of related studies on a three-year cycle.
A report prepared by the NCA Doctoral Education Committee describes the study’s methodology as well some controversies surrounding it. Tables of data ranking Ph.D. programs based on nine specialty areas can be accessed here.
The nine specialty include:
Communication and Technology
Critical/cultural Studies of Communication/Media
Health Communication
Intercultural/International Communication
Interpersonal/Small Group Communication
Mass Communication Research
Organizational Communication
Political Communication
Rhetorical Studies
The data might work as reference for students interested in communication doctoral programs. However, the rank should be taken into account with reservation due to the limitations and controversies discussed in the report. For those who seek for an appropriate program, the comprehensive list of 71 schools with 132 doctoral programs in Communication prepared by NCA’s Research Board is of great value. [You should have Microsoft Excel to open the files]
VBPro is a set of programs for content analysis, written by M. Mark Miller. They are based on DOS OS thus might be a pain for Windows users who have got used to mouse. According to the author, VBPro works fine under Windows. Some other computer content analysis programs can be found here.
The site for Kimberly A. Neuendorf’s The Content Analysis Guidebook is a good source of contenet analysis.
